I think there's a fair amount of confusion here, so I thought I'd make this the first post in that new series. (Please note that all “copy protection” solutions are technically flawed in any case and don't have a place on this list.) What can you do: Ask for an e-book in the formats you need. If there is DRM (i.e. no way that you can use the book for anything but conversion to PDF), then ask the DRM-protected e-book publisher to release or remove that DRM. The DRM-protected e-book publisher may allow you to make a copy of the book so long as there aren't any errors in the e-book, or it can only be printed as a single-sided book. This is usually a non-trivial request to make, and I have encountered the situation where there really was no way to make a copy, so the DRM-covered publisher asked me.
